When should you convert HEIC to PNG?

PNG is lossless, so it's useful for editing, design tools and workflows that specifically ask for PNG files. Every edit-and-save keeps the pixels exactly as they are.

Keep in mind that PNG files are often much larger than JPG for normal photos — sometimes five times the size or more. If you just need to upload or share an iPhone photo, convert HEIC to JPG instead.
